Do you believe in ghosts? Well, bring up the subject of ghosts and Marshall, Texas and there’s a lot of people who will admit, if only in confidence, that they’ve seen, felt or heard something that can’t be explained – a woman’s face in the window of the historic courthouse late at night, an empty rocking chair rocking back and forth, a house where the lights go on and off at random, and no electrician can figure out why.

I certainly believed in ghosts when I was young. I would awake every night certain that there was some sort of ghost, spirit or monster in my room. I’m sure my parents were tired of me jumping into bed with them night after night. But now that I’m older, I have to admit a few times I’ve felt or seen some things that I can’t explain.

Okay before you start to roll your eyes and shake your head, think about all the unexplained things that you hear about each and everyday. I’m just saying.

Marshall’s paranormal activities was uncovered last October when “Unknown Paranormal of Longview,” investigated Marshall’s old City Hall.  The group says the city as an untapped source of things that go “bump in the night,” that they chose Marshall for the first Ghost Conference in East Texas.

What’s a Ghost Con? It’s a conference for paranormal professionals, would-be investigators of paranormal activity, and people who just want to know more about the supernatural, the unexplained and how to go about investigating it.

Guest speakers include Everyday Paranormal founders Brad and Barry Klinge of San Antonio, from the Discovery Channel series “Ghost Lab” and the new Internet series, “The Dead Truth.”

The conference is set for Saturday, August 17-18, from 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Marshall Visual Arts Center at 208 E. Burleson St. To get your tickets and more information log on to Unknown Pg.com.
