From the beneath the towering oil fields of White Oak to the big apple, former Roughneck pitcher, Scott Copeland, is headed to play for the New York Mets.

Following graduation from White Oak, Scott headed to Panola College and then onto The University of Southern Mississippi. He was drafted by the Orioles in 2010.

His first start in 2015, for the Toronto Blue Jays brought home a win.

Last spring he anchored a no-hitter for the New Orleans Baby Cakes. Commenting afterward, "I was a little disappointed not to finish it off," Copeland said. "But it is what it is. The main goal is getting the job done for the team. That's what we did and that's good."

Last season he played for the Marlins Triple-A affiliate in New Orleans, with a 9-11 record and 4.97 ERA in 26 starts. We look forward to watching him create depth for the Mets in their clubhouse and seeing him back up in the big leagues this season.

Here's to more strikeouts, Scott!
