Fun. To Perform At The 2012 MTV Movie Awards

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards get a few new categories this year including the new category of Best Music.  While the popcorn buckets will be handed out, pop group sensation Fun. will perform during the show.

Their current song "We Are Young" has been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the last six weeks and has helped them land the gig during the awards show.

With the summer blockbuster movie season about to explode it could be a great year for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.  They'll be handed out June 3rd from the Gibsom Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA.

With the power of the popcorn in the hands of the viewers, they'll get to vote for the song that played in a specific part of the movie that played during the perfect scene.

MTV president, Stephen Friedman, had this to say about the awards show,

The Movie Awards are all about celebrating the most popular films and performances from the past year that people actually went to see.  Fun.'s performance (will) showcase one of the biggest changes in this year's broadcast — a true melding of the worlds of movies and music — with a tribute to the greatest party films of all time." It'll be the 21st year for the MTV Movie Awards, Sunday, June 3rd at 8p on MTV.
