Over the past decade or so, there has been some debate as to whether the government, public schools and retailers should use the word “Christmas,” or if they should use something more inclusive, like “the holidays.”

According to a new survey of 1174 adults from Poll Position, the public remains firmly behind the more traditional description, with 91 percent answering that they think  it is proper to use the word “Christmas” during the holidays. Four percent don’t think it’s proper, and five percent had no opinion on the question.

Overwhelming support for “Christmas” cut across all the demographic groups Poll Position surveyed.
