Saturday will mark the 30th year that the City of Jacksonville celebrates the shiny, little, red vegetable known as the tomato with the Tomato Fest! Well, it's actually a fruit that also comes in green and yellow too!  People from all over Cherokee County will be celebrating this squishy delight with enjoyment!

Commerce and Austin Streets in Jacksonville Saturday morning between the steps of the Tomato Bowl and the downtown bridge will be filled with hundreds of vendors, farmers, crafters and the like, all of them celebrating the tomato in some way. The event gets underway at 9a and runs until 4p but continues with a gospel concert from 5p - 7p and is topped off by the annual Chili's Street Dance from 7p - 10p at 1255 S. Jackson.

In addition to the vendors on site there are many activities for you and the kids to catch and participate in too! There will be an antique car show, best home grown tomato contest, fishing tournament, kids zone, a salsa contest, tomato peeling contest, tomato shoot among many other things to do and see as well. Then you can't forget about the tomato eating contest too!

So no matter how you serve up your tomatoes - on burgers, salads, salsa, ketchup, pizza or fried - East Texas farmers will be on hand selling you their best crop of tomatoes!
