James McAvoy took on the role of a young Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class three years ago. He reprises the role in X-Men: Days of Future Past which slipped to the number two box office slot this weekend behind a huge opening for Disney's Maleficent.

McAvoy's role is one of my personal favorites. Professor X and the franchise as a whole are my favorite in the super hero genre. I grew up watching the animated version of the comics on Fox Kids, and gained a new appreciation for the comics when Bryan Singer's X-Men feature film was released in 2000.

As the film series has evolved I have watched and re-watched the films. In 2011, when Singer took a look back at how the X-Men first came together I found a new favorite. I've been fond of James McAvoy since he won my heart in Becoming Jane in 2007.

Today he gains the title of the Mix 93.1 Man Crush Monday.
