Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have been getting along well since their divorce. The former couple are working together on their Univision series, ‘Q’Viva!’ and are reportedly co-parenting and communicating better than ever. However, working with an ex, no matter how amicably you split, isn’t going to be easy. J. Lo opened up to Matt Lauer on ‘Today’ about her relationship with Anthony.

When Lauer asks the ‘American Idol‘ judge about ‘Q’Viva!,’ he brought up “how casually” she mentioned her ex’s name within her conversation. When asked why she didn’t walk away from the series post split, J. Lo replied, “Marc and I were friends before we got married. We were friends for years, and we always loved each other,” she said earnestly. “We always worked together, so it wasn’t an unnatural thing for us to keep continue working together.”

Of course, that’s not the only incentive. Lopez and Anthony also sincerely love what they’re doing for ‘Q’Viva!’. The pop siren told Lauer, “It really is a passion project for us, and even though it has its difficult moments, it’s still a great thing that we’re doing.”

It’s not all sunshine and roses, though. Lopez admitted that she and Anthony have moments of not liking each other. “We have those moments!” Lopez exclaimed. “We’re human, I’m not going to sit here and lie about that. At the end of the day, there is real love there. There is a family there, and that comes first. And at the end of the day, we really love this project.”

Lopez wasn’t entirely comfortable talking about the split, though. When Lauer brought up an interview Lopez did with Vanity Fair, she shut him down quickly, but politely. “Matt, I’m going to kill you!” she laughed. “Why do you always have to bring it up?! … Marc and I agreed that we wouldn’t bring it up again, because it really is our personal life,” she explained. “We have children, and it’s something that we just have to respect and keep sacred. At the end of the day, like I said, we’re working together, we have a lot of love for each other, and we’re human. It’s not the easiest thing in the world, but I think we handle it with a lot of grace and a lot of caring and a lot of love.”

Lopez also revealed why she was photographed in tears on a balcony recently. While the Internet was abuzz saying her ex made her cry, it turns out it was actually something sweet. “I was talking to my daughter on the balcony yesterday, and I miss her so much I was shedding a tear.”
