Legendary NFL linebacker Junior Seau was found dead at his home in California, and now police are investigating a shooting, TMZ is reporting.

TMZ is reporting cops are currently on the scene at Seau’s home in Oceanside, Calif. The North County Times just reported Seau died of suicide, apparently from a gunshot wound to the chest. The NC Times says he was found by his housekeeper.

The former member of the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots was 43 years old. He leaves behind three children.

Considered one of the best linebackers of his generation, Seau was a 10-time All-Pro selection and played in 12 Pro Bowls. He was picked fifth overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 1990 NFL Draft after he had an explosive career at USC.

He played in two Super Bowls, one with San Diego and one with New England.
