Kanye West May Not Make ‘Yeezus’ Available for Pre-Order

Sorry, Kanye West fans, but if you’re looking to get your mitts on ‘Yeezus’ as soon as it hits stores on June 18, you’re totally out of luck. It seems as though Yeezy is barring his sixth solo studio album from pre-order.

West’s friend and fashion designer, Jean Touitou, posted (and later took down) a picture of the album with a caption that reads, “No pre-order. Please purchase June 18.” Uh, what? Why? We get that Kanye is trying to be mysterious and all, but not allowing fans to pre-order an album is honestly just a stupid business move. Kanye is pretty much saying to fans, “Nah, I don’t want your money. Just pirate my album instead.”

It seems like Kanye is following through on this asinine tactic seeing as ‘Yeezus’ is nowhere to be found in the iTunes store. Groups like One Direction have demonstrated the true power of pre-order. Their single for ‘Live While We’re Young’ went to No. 1 in 40 countries over a month before it’s official release. Looks like Kanye just doesn’t want that buzz surrounding his newest LP.

We’re really hoping that the picture Touitou tweeted is not what Yeezy’s album artwork looks like. He’s always eye-catching visuals to go along with his music (he did go to art school after all!), but something tells us his next endeavor will be totally different than previous work.

Not much info is available about the album as of yet. Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 has heard it is, “dark, but really good.” Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk said, “It was very raw: he was rapping — kind of screaming primally, actually.” Looks like fans are in for an experience!
