Lana Del Rey Says Fans ‘Can’t Expect Too Much’ From Live Performances
After her live performance on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Lana Del Rey has been receiving lots of backlash over her awkward stage presence and lackluster vocal performance. While Del Rey is still a newcomer and nervousness might be expected from novice performers, the songstress recently told FUSE that fans shouldn’t come to her shows with high expectations… um what?!
“I think like, the people who have been listening to my music for a little while know that I’m more of a writer and, like, a studio singer. So I think if you come to the show, you just come to hear the songs on the record that you might like,” Del Rey told FUSE, before saying, “You can’t expect too much from my show,” with a laugh. Is it just us, or do statements like these just set Ms. Del Rey up for failure?
Del Rey then went on to say that live television is especially nerve-wracking for her, which is understandable considering ‘SNL’ is a high-pressure show with a huge amount of viewers each weekend — not to mention that her music is on the slower side and might not be as stimulating to watch as say, Lady Gaga giving fake birth onstage. “Sometimes I feel less nervous than other times. I don’t love live television. The only tip I have is just pray and just hope that things work out,” Del Rey said.
