Shot in black and white, much like her YouTube restrictedGirl Gone Wild‘ video, ‘Gang Bang,’ the latest single by Madonna, is a bizarre collection of images set to a pulsating beat and whispers.

‘Gang Bang’ is the third single from ‘MDNA,’ which hit shelves and digital retailers today (March 26).

You don’t see Madonna herself until the middle of the clip, and even then, it’s a translucent, fading image of Madge over the other characters in the video.

While Quentin Tarantino didn’t actually direct the clip (despite Madonna’s wanting), his influence is apparent in the imagery and rapid fire style. “That’s who I was thinking about when I was writing the song,” Madonna told Jimmy Fallon. “I was picturing one of his movies, and one of the female characters.”

The clip features a lot of people in their skivvies — girls on a couch, another girl applying lip gloss. There are close ups of blinking eyes, a silhouette of someone (likely the Material Girl) dancing while chained to a wall. Men brandish guns, another woman writhes and kicks on a kitchen table. It’s non linear and abstract, but still captures the essence of the track: it’s sexy and implies violence (though we don’t see any live), but, as evidence by images of a weeping Madge, is also about a broken heart.
