Dallas Stars fans have been waiting literal years for this to happen and this Saturday it will finally be unveiled.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD FOR MIKE MODANO STATUE

Now the official unveiling is this Saturday, but obviously this had to be put up before then. Now we sort of have an idea of what this thing will look like. I personally thought it was going to be Mike holding the Stanley Cup, but it appears he will be holding a hockey stick instead. This weekend is all about Mike Modano, the statue will be unveiled. Mike is the Grand Marshall in the Dallas Saint Patrick's Day parade. It's going to be a fun weekend for Stars fans. So let's check out some cool Mike Modano moments.

Bringing a hockey franchise to Dallas seemed like a ludrcious idea back in the day. Everyone said people don't care about hockey here. Thankfully the team already had a superstar that helped get people to check out the Dallas Stars. In their first season in Dallas, Mike Modano scored 50 goals. Which is no easy feat to do. Less than 100 players in the NHL have ever done this.

Another huge accomplishment in the NHL is scoring 500 goals. Mike Modano did this in 2007 with the Dallas Stars. Only 47 other players in NHL history have 500 goals. It's an elite club to be a part of, but Mike would join a more elite club later in the season.

Just one month after joining the 500 club. Mike Modano scored a goal against the San Jose Sharks, this gave him 1,233 career points in the NHL. In case you don't know, you earn a point on a goal or an assist in hockey. Mike Modano became the highest point earner for an American born player on November 7, 2007. He would finish his career with 1,374 points, which as of now is still the record.

Anytime a player that has been a part of your franchise for so long decides to move on it's always an emotional time. April 10, 2010 would be the last time we see Mike Modano in a Dallas Stars uniform. Not only did he get a game tying goal to send it into overtime, he got the game winning goal in a shootout. Not a bad way to end your career in Dallas.

To make it in Dallas, you have to win a championship. Mike Modano was able to get the Dallas Stars to the mountaintop during his sixth season in Big D. During the 90's the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills met each other a few times in the Super Bowl. Before we closed out the decade, Buffalo had to get beat one more time in the championship game to Dallas. If Buffalo didn't hate Dallas already, this was just icing on the cake.

Thanks again to Mike Modano for all the memories you brought me as a Stars fan. I can't wait to see the statue when I make my way to Dallas for a playoff game next month. As always go Stars!
