Former Texas Tech & Whitehouse Wildcats star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was selected with the 10th overall pick in tonight's National Football League Draft by Kansas City.

The Chiefs made a trade with the Buffalo Bills to move up to the #10 spot, then took Mahomes with that pick.  Mahomes had elected to forego his senior season with the Red Raiders, declaring himself a candidate for the pros in January. He was the second quarterback taken in the 1st Round, ahead of Clemson's National Champion qb Deshaun Watson, who went 12th to the Houston Texans.  North Carolina's Mitch Trubisky was chosen by the Chicago Bears with the #2 overall pick.

Texas A&M's outstanding defensive end Myles Garrett was this year's #1 draft selection.  The Aggie from Arlington now joins the Cleveland Browns roster.
