The Downtown Tyler Film Festival crew is hosting a kick-off party on Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m. at Gallery Main Street. Join them for food and drink, music, a look at past winning films and have an opportunity to meet filmmakers. You are also encouraged to join the festival as a sponsor or volunteer. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring a guest!

The Downtown Tyler Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates the fun and adventure of independent film. Hosted by the film department of the Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition, the festival is an important part in the Coalition's goal of identifying, encouraging and supporting the production of quality independent film in Texas. As working artists, the DTAC group fervently believes in the adage “talent goes where the action is," and is working diligently to create as much action as possible. The coalition works under the auspices of the City of Tyler's Main Street Department and the Heart of Tyler Inc., which is a volunteer-driven, 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.

Each year, the festival has an overall theme, which keeps the festival timely and marketable. Our first year theme was “Show Us Your Shorts,” and showcased original short comedy films that had been recently produced in Texas.
