In Victoria Texas, the Secret Service is investigating a billboard posted that reads, “Pray for Obama” with the Bible scripture below it reading Psalms 109:8. The scripture is what has people upset. The billboard has stirred major controversy because of the interpretation of what the Bible scripture reads in regard to President Obama.Psalms 109:8 states:

“Let his days be few, and let another take his office.”

Many have complained to authorities citing that the billboard is promoting assassination or a “death wish” directed at the President. Other interpretation is citing that the Billboard is inappropriate because it’s using Holy scripture in an non-Holy way.

City officials have received numerous calls complaining about the sign, which they claim that they only review contents of signs if for some reason the sign affected traffic.

When asked about the meaning, the Billboard’s owner, Milton Neitsch Jr.  expressed that he didn’t intend for it to mean any harm come the President’s way, and that he didn’t think that people would take it to literally mean hate of any kind. Neitsch also said in a statement that he has received death threats targeting his own family due to the sign.

He simply stated that the Billboard means what it says:

“Pray for the president. He needs it. Hope he’s gone soon and somebody different takes his place.”

Neitsch explained that this came about from an e-mail he received from a friend, and that gave him the idea to put it on his own Billboard.

Reverend Amy Danchik began a petition to have the sign come down.

Since the firestorm, the two have met and agreed that it should be replaced because of the scripture.

Neitsch says that his new billboard will say, “Vote for the American”. A sign that will probably begin another firestorm.

What do you think?
