Funeral Services are now set for 9-year-old Ally Baker, who died after collapsing on a church playground Wednesday evening.

The services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at the First United Methodist Church in Quitman. A memorial fund has also been set up for Ally at the City National Bank of Wood County in Quitman.

Ally collapsed while playing hide and seek on the playground, CPS was quickly administered and she was airlifted to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, where she passed away. Doctors at the hospital  believe the little girl died from a brain aneurysm, but an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

Ally was a student at Quitman ISD. The following statement was released by the school district:

QISD is saddened at the loss of this precious little girl. Ally was a delight to be around. She was full of energy and always smiling. She will be greatly missed by her classmates, teachers, and many friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” assistant superintendent Rhonda Turner said.

Two Dead in Wood County Fatal Accident

Two people are dead following a traffic accident near Mineola. Department of Public Safety said the one vehicle wreck occurred at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday on CR 2231, three miles west of Mineola.

Dead at the scene were 33-year-old Monica Hayes of Mineola, and 58-year-old Fannie Crowell of Alba. Both were passengers in a car driven by 37-year-old Donald Houck of Mineola. He and another passenger 57 –year-old Cecil Cantrell of Yantis are hospitalized with serious injuries.

DPS says Houck lost control of his Ford Mustang and struck a concrete bridge on CR 2231.

Longview Man Dies Attempting to Cross the Street

LONGVIEW – Police were called just before 10 p.m. Thursday night to the 3000 block of Estes Parkway where they found the victim, Robert Wayne Mullins, 51, lying in the roadway.

Mullins was attempting to cross the roadway in a dimly lit area located away from the intersection. Mullins was struck by a Camry driven by 20 year-old Rebecca Ann Sheets of Tatum. Mullins was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The accident remains under investigation and police are asking for witnesses to the accident or anyone with information on this accident to contact Longview Police Traffic Unit officers by calling 903-237-1199.
