2012 looks like it's going to be a great year for some new music from some of my favorite artists. Many of these artists have been in the studio working on these albums for quite a while and their albums should be out by spring time.

  • No Doubt

Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont have been busy working on their new album.  The last No Doubt album was released in 2003 and it was their collection of singles.

Since then Gwen has gone on to have a very successful solo career and recently teamed up with the group to work on the new album.

This is one that I am really looking forward to hearing

  • Train

Pat Monahan was busy while out on the road last year writing new songs for the band for their next album.  The band is in the studio now finishing up that album but that hasn't stopped them from releasing a single!

"Drive By" is the newest song from Train and will be featured on the new album.

Just another new album I'm looking forward to hearing.

  • John Mayer

John Mayer is another Mix artist that I'm looking forward to hearing new music from this year. His last album Battle Studies was released in 2009 and he had to stop work on his new album this past fall to undergo surgery on his vocal cords (much like Adele).

He's on the road to recovery because he has 4 shows coming up in March and April and one of them being in Austin at South By Southwest Music Festival.

  • Madonna

The undisputed "Queen Of Pop" is back in the studio, her first time since 2008's release of Hard Candy. Madonna has an excuse though, she's been busy for three years directing her movie W.E.

In addition to working on the new album, she's also busy planning the halftime show for Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, Feb. 5.

  • U2

The last time I saw U2 was at Cowboys Stadium October 2010 for the 360 World Tour. This band sure knows how to put on a show.

The band is currently in the studio working on THREE albums at the same time, but they all will not be release at the same time, unfortunately!

  • Taylor Swift

Taylor released her Speak Now album last year and has been on the road since touring to support that album. Since being on the road so much she's had time to write some new songs and says her next album is going to be earth-shattering and an absolute crash and burn heartbreak. Wait, isn't that what all of her albums are about?

She's looking to head in the studio once her Speak Now World Tour wraps up.

  • Matchbox Twenty

2007 was the last year we heard new music from this Rob Thomas fronted band. After their last album Exile On Mainstream, Rob decided to go off on a solo career and has had quite a bit of success with it. He has since reunited with the band and they have been in the studio working on a new album which is due out this spring.
