American Express posted this Youtube Video about ways to support small, independent retailers, and it's been viewed more than 5 million times.

Black Friday may be winding down, but the shopping continues this weekend. Tomorrow, shoppers will head out to support independent retailers in East Texas on Small Business Saturday.

The Tyler Small Business Development Center says on their Facebook page that Small Business Saturday is the day we celebrate the Shop Small movement to drive shoppers to local merchants across the U.S.

What Tyler, Longview and other area business will you support?

The National Retail Federation estimates 36 percent of independent retailers consider Small Business Saturday to be the most important day of the year for sales. 24 percent say it's Black Friday.

We can think of several small businesses that deserve our dollars. Landscapers, quaint boutiques, house cleaners, donut shops, beauty shops, floral and gift shops, interior designers, clothing stores, and more.

We are in total "shop mode" now with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and the upcoming Cyber Monday. And there are many great businesses in Tyler, Longview, and surrounding areas that we'll have the chance to support. They help make our local world go round, and we can give them our thanks this weekend. In some cases, we'll probably find some unique, one-of-a-kind gifts that can't be found in the big box stores.
