The first day of spring in East Texas is being welcomed with a healthy dose of rain. Rain that is  desperately needed for East Texas lakes, which are returning to normal levels thanks to the latest downpours. With the first day of Spring, we can look forward to spending time with our families outdoors and take in all the beauty that East Texas has to offer this time of year.

Here are some great events to look forward to this spring in East Texas:

Tyler Azalea and Spring Flower Trail: Kicks off Friday and runs through Easter Sunday (April 8).
2012 Dogwood Trails: In Palestine - Friday, March 23 through Sunday, April 8.
Texas State Railroad: Especially beautiful during blooming season.
UT Tyler Patriot Million Dollar Hole-In-One: Friday, May 7 through Sunday, May 16
Tyler Komen Race For The Cure: Saturday, May 12th

Here are just a couple things we don't look forward to in the spring:

Pollen: Bad for allergies and for your clean car (especially if you have a dark colored car - it'll look green!)
Severe weather: Just look outside today!
