The rumbles of thunder make it seem more like April than December, and if you're traveling today expect the rain showers to continue until around 3pm. Rain chances decrease after that, but are still possible through tonight. If there is precipitation falling tonight when the temperatures turn even colder, a smidge of snow hasn't been ruled out.
October 1, 2012 The risk was just too great, so organizers made the decision to shut down the rides and close the gates to the East Texas State Fair early.
The fair had 43,400 people in attendance on Friday and the midway actually broke a record for the amount of money brought in.
It could have been a record-setting weekend perhaps, but organizers called it quits and cancelled the Sunday evening concert.
August 17, 2012 Many parts of East Texas were woken up this morning to a round of strong thunderstorms that produced locally heavy rainfall and quite a bit of lightning and thunder. That trend will hopefully continue through the weekend and bring cooler temperatures to East Texas too.
The National Weather Service says locally heavy rainfall is expected over much of the state today and tonight with widespread rain resulting in one to near three inches of rainfall. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible.
