Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback declared a state of emergency in the wake of a giant tornado, which hit Wichita particularly hard late Saturday night. Miraculously there are no major injuries reported so far.
Tuesday afternoon the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex was ravaged by a few rounds of severe weather that spawned several tornadoes and did quite a bit of damage throughout the metroplex. There were even reports of a tornado in the vicinity of Six Flags Over Texas, the Rangers Ballpark In Arlington and Cowboys Stadium but thankfully the tornado never touched down and no damage was done to any of the facilities. That's good news for us and me seeing how Six Flags is one of my favorite places to go and have fun (no to mention it was the place I got my first job, so I'm kinda partial to the park!)
The National Weather Service preliminary findings indicate one of the tornadoes that struck North Texas had wind gusts ranging from 136 to 165 mph, suggesting it was an EF3. That’s two categories shy of the strongest tornadoes.
The storms that have been ripping through the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex have been producing major storms, tornadoes that have thrown tractor-trailers off the ground — and hail so big your jaw will drop. Check out these pictures.
Here’s just another example why tornadoes are one of the scariest natural disasters on the planet. As the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex was just hammered by tornadoes this afternoon, WFAA Channel 8 in Dallas got some unthinkable footage.
A powerful storm system that spawned several tornadoes ripped through parts of the Midwest early Wednesday morning, leaving millions of dollars of damage and at least 13 people dead in its wake. Early damage photos are showing that the devastation ranges from mild to severe.
