The Old Mill Pond Museum sits along Hwy 69 in Lindale just north of I-20, and will transport you back in time.

Arriving in time to hear the old-fashioned steam whistle is an extra special treat. It blows at 8 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The owner spent many years collecting items from the past to display them on this property. The video above gives you an idea of what it's like to walk through it.

Admission is free, and you get to experience all kinds of working replicas like the water mill! You'll also see a Model T and a replica gas station. I'm intrigued by the model train, and the replicated old-fashioned drugstore.

The reviews on Trip Advisor speak highly of it as well. Rusty in New Harmony shared the following review:

This place is amazing. The first time I visited it was like stepping back in time. There were more interesting items there than I had seen in many museums I had been in, and believe me, I’ve been in a lot of museums. They had everything from an old physician’s office, to antique farm equipment, to turn of the century household items, to old musical instruments, and more. All of these were housed in buildings such as barns, an old service station, a blacksmith shop, and even a beautiful little Chapel. I could walk around on my own or be guided. I chose to be guided and the man that took me on the tour really knew his stuff. Everything was organized and the place was really clean. The second time I went I took my family with me and the grandkids had a ball. Did I mention all of this was free? This place is a great place for a family outing. It’s a kid friendly place, and a grandpa friendly place, too. I highly recommend visiting.

There are so many unique stops in East Texas. Make this free experience one of them.
