Taylor Swift is playing an emotionless character in the upcoming book-to-movie adaptation ‘The Giver,’ but the singer isn’t going to be writing any emotionless songs anytime soon.

The 24-year-old insisted that her part of Rosemary hasn’t inspired a new viewpoint for her. “To me emotion is such an important part of my life, and now I guess my job,” she told ET Online.

It’s such an important part that she’s not even sure her Swifties would listen to her music without it! “People wouldn’t listen to my songs if they weren’t heartbroken or deeply affected and hurt and jilted and sad and bitter and all those wonderful things that I write songs about,” she continued.

While we would sorely miss being able to sing (and yell) along to emotional tunes like ‘Dear John’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ we’re pretty sure we would still love anything T. Swift wrote.

Watch her full ET interview above, and catch Taylor in her uncharacteristic role in ‘The Giver’ when it’s released in theaters on August 15.
