This year looks like it will be a good year to check out Tyler's Azalea Trail early! Many azalea bushes are already in bloom in advance of the official start of the Tyler Azalea and Spring Flower Trail, which officially kicks off March 23. I even have a few azalea bushes blooming in my back yard, and we're not even on the trail!

Many East Texas yards will soon be filled with the colorful hues of the azalea, from white, red to the many shades of pink, these flowers are a big tourist attraction for Tyler and East Texas. The azaleas draw in thousands of visitors each year who flock here to see pristine, manicured lawns and flower gardens among Tyler's historic Red Brick Street District, which date to the Great Depression and the Roosevelt administration with many of the large azalea bushes dating back to the 1930's and 1940's.

In addition to viewing beautifully created gardens, the Tyler Azalea and Spring Flower Trail offers something for just about everyone.  There will be a quilt show, 10K and 2 mile run, arts & crafts fair, chili cook-off and more.

The Tyler Azalea and Spring Flower Trail officially runs March 23 through April 8 and can be enjoyed driving and even walking along the trail.

If you have azaleas at your home, we would love to see them!  Just snap a pic and upload it here or to the Mix 93-1 Facebook page!
