Becoming an official Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire? Nothing more posh than that — just ask Victoria Beckham.

Beckham, who boasts a 17-year career in the fashion industry, received her OBE distinction earlier today (April 19) from Prince William at Buckingham Palace, according to the BBCThe honor is bestowed upon those who make contributions to the arts and sciences and public service and was first awarded in 1917.

"It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today," Beckham said as she accepted her award. "I'm proud to be British, honored and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge."

"If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things," she added. "I'm so happy to share this very special occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would be possible."

And there were more distinctions to go around — athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill was made a Dame as part of the ceremony, and actor Mark Rylance received a knighthood. Beckham's husband, David, was made an OBE in 2003.

Beckham's 14-year-old son, Romeo, shared a heartfelt message honoring his mom on Instagram. He and siblings Brooklyn, Cruz and Harper all watched on in adoration.

"I want to say how proud I am of my mum today as she received her OBE," he wrote. "She works so hard and really deserves this honour...We love you mum."
