It's always great, but organizers this year say the festival is more elaborate than in years past.  The festivities will kick off with the Rose Show at 10 a.m. Thursday Oct. 13 at the Rose Garden Center, 420 Rose Park Drive.

The Rose Show this year is expected to include an English Medieval castle that will be a large backdrop for the rest of the floral areas, including an English rose garden and an arrangement made into a princess, with a flowing gown and bodice made entirely of cut flowers.

The 11x20-foot castle will be surrounded by 2,000 stem-cut roses, and 1,000 roses made into a pathway through the English-style garden.

The parade will include bands from Stephen F. Austin and Texas State, plus  the 77th United States Army Band.

See you next week!
