This past weekend I had the honor of co-emceeing an event with Mandee Montana called A Night Of Superstars. This was the inaugural year for the event that recognized East Texas children that have been affected by some disease or illness and to recognize them on their achievements and to raise money for a special charity.

This year there were 15 special children selected to receive awards during the event and the night was all about them. But before the black tie affair began, the kids were treated like the superstars that they are! They were each outfitted in an evening gown or tuxedo that was provided to them. They each received hair and make-up treatment and arrived at the Cascades club house via limo service! Once at the venue these special kids continued to be the stars, they all me in the special 'green room' that was set up just for them and when the time came for them to become center stage, the party was on!

Each child was escorted down the red carpet (very similar to a red carpet movie premiere) that was complete with velvet ropes, paparazzi, screaming and cheering fans, film crews and an entertainment reporter, which was my great friend Amy Austin from 101-5 KNUE. She interviewed the kids as they showed up and as they walked down the red carpet they were signing their names to the programs and having their pictures snapped by the paparazzi!

Seeing these special kids receive this kind of treatment was awesome! They had the time of their lives. After the red carpet they were each recognized by myself and Mandee for their accomplishments and received an award from the Night Of Superstars founder, Greg Johnson.

The night wasn't over for this group of extraordinary kids, they dined and danced the night away and had a joyous time.

This night was an amazing night for me because I got to see joy in a lot of kids' eyes as most of them have never experienced anything like this. It reminds me so much of Kidd's Kids. Check out the amazing kids that were selected as Superstars from Tyler and East Texas!

A Night of Superstars is an event that was created in Dallas a few years ago and has since been expanded to St. Louis and here in Tyler/East Texas and will soon make a premiere in Hollywood, San Antonio and Austin. I was proud to be among the first for this event and hope that it continues as a yearly tradition for East Texas.
