A Trip To Crested Butte, CO Reviewed By A Mix 93-1 Listener

Mix 93-1 listener Tammy Baker won a trip to Crested Butte, CO in January and after taking the trip to paradise she wrote us a cool review of her trip along with a big thank you.

This past January we gave away a ski trip to Crested Butte, CO and Tammy Baker of Jacksonville was the winner of the contest and she just returned from her trip and wrote us to tell us how it was and what Crested Butte, CO was like!

Hello Lucky Larry,

I was shocked the day you called me to let me know that I won the Crested Butte Mountain Resort ski trip. I was so excited! I have been wanting to go skiing for years and my son, TaCameron Stubblefield has wanted to snowboard but we just haven't been able to afford it. I was going to take my husband with me but he told me to take TaCameron. He knew how bad that he wanted to snowboard.

Tacameron and I flew out on Wednesday morning, February 28th. We arrived at The Grande Lodge where they had a suite reserved for us. It was nice and roomy. The next morning, we took a half day of skiing/snowboarding lessons. (I highly recommend lessons to first timers!) We learned the basics and were on our way to ski down the mountain trails. We are both scared of heights, therefore we were not too fond of the ski lift, but I guess you have to get up the mountain somehow. We made it down the mountain, but I have to admit that I was terrified. Lets just say I should have had some more practice before we went down that part of the mountain! TaCameron was fine. He really enjoyed snowboarding. We had so much fun! We had a few falls but we laughed and had a great time.

Friday, we decided to go on a snowmobile tour. It was a 3 hour guided tour through the national forest. This was amazing! The mountains are so beautiful with all the snow.

Crested Butte is a neat little town with lots of shops and dining. They city has free buses that take you from the mountain to town which is 3.5 miles away. The buses run every 15 minutes and make several stops through the town. We usually ate breakfast and lunch at the resort but caught the bus into town for dinner and shopping.

I am thankful that TaCameron and I were able to spend this time together. He is 17 and the last of our kids that we have at home. Plus, he is at that age were he would rather spend time with friends than me. On this trip, he was stuck with me for 3 nights and 4 days. We made a lot of great memories to last a lifetime!

After reading this thank you email from Tammy, we are now jealous and want to go to Crested Butte, CO too! I believe I would like to do the snowmobile excursion the most!
