Neisseria Meningitis Bacteria is an infection that is causing, deadly, and severe chaos. Meningitis can be hard to detect by looking at someone because it could come off as the beginning stages of the flu. Stiff neck, nausea, and headaches with fever are the usual symptoms of Meningitis, but lately, there have been symptoms with bloodstream infections, and about 4% of these cases have painful, infected joints. This disease has been attacking middle-aged adults which is kind of odd because normally Meningitis affects babies or adolescents at a young age.

Washing your hands, using great hygiene, covering your mouth when you cough and sneeze, and not sharing your utensils or drinks can keep the risk of catching Meningitis lower at risk—unvaccinated individuals, people with compromised immune systems, and pregnant women are at risk more than others. As of right now, the CDC has identified about one and six people have died, and a higher than normal fatality rate for the infections. We’re asking Texans to please keep an eye out for your loved ones and be safe.
