"The VMAs don't just give you a stage. They give you a story. It's a way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever. Before you know it...it's history. Before you know it...it's Britney, bitch." - The Word of Godney
Britney Spears, Living Legend™, is officially performing live, in all her Glory, at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
This will mark the first time she takes the VMAs stage for a performance since her now-infamous rendition of "Gimme More" nearly a decade ago in 2007.
The Queen of Clumsiness just dropped an ominous, nostalgia-filled teaser for the upcoming performance, full of Spearitual REFERENCES — including the main star, BANANA THE SNAKE, from her 2001 "I'm A Slave 4 U" performance.
Various self-referential moments include:
The "Work Bitch" music video neon "Bitch" light.
School lockers, imported straight from her 1999 "...Baby One More Time" performance.
...and a bouquet of flowers, too.
Red catsuit, a la "Oops."
...And quite possibly the sparkly nude "Oops" number from the 2000 VMAs, too.

This teaser is going to be the death of me, and I need a moment to breathe (on me).
The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards air live on Sunday, August 28.
