In spite of all the severe weather last night that rolled through East Texas, NBC still debuted the latest singing competion reality show called The Voice.  This show sets itself apart from American Idol in a couple of ways.

The Voice does not have judges, it has vocal coaches.  The Voice does not allow the vocal coaches to see the contestants until after their auditions.  The contestants are not bound to one genre of music - they can come from all genres of music and some have even appeared on other shows like Rockstar Supernova (from CBS) and American Idol alums.  Also, some of the contestants have a professional background too!
