Chuy's is now calling East Texas home with the grand opening of their newest location in Tyler.  The grand opening of Chuy's is today and is located on S. Broadway. Chuy's began nearly 30 years ago in Austin and they now have locations all over the state including East Texas and some other states too!  What's cool about Chuy's is that all of their food is fresh, not frozen.  They even grow their own peppers on land the company owns in New Mexico!  The only thing in the freezer are the Popsicle for the kids meals!

Last night I had the opportunity to attend a VIP dinner at Chuy's (part of their pre-opening training) and it was my first time to ever eat at a Chuy's.  The restaurant has a huge patio outside and the inside has 4 (I think) big metal palm trees in one room, a school of fish hanging from the ceiling in the bar and another room has a ceiling full of hub caps!  But I wasn't there for the decor, I was there to eat and that's what we did!

Chuy's expansive menu offers fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, nachos and their special Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom.  There's even a special menu for little ones too.  During happy hour in the bar they have a complimentary nacho bar - which was great by the way.  But you've got to try the creamy jalapeno sauce, you'll be hooked.

Something special happened while at Chuy's with my 6 year old.  Our waitress Lauren brought her a dough ball to play with while we were waiting for our meal to arrive.  Now I don't know if they do that all the time, but I thought it was great in a fun atmosphere and something different, because if you have kids you know how impatient they can be sometimes while waiting for the food to arrive!  Thanks Lauren that was fun - and no she didn't eat the dough! Here's Rebecca with her dough ball right at the meal was being delivered!

Chuy's is now open daily and is located on S. Broadway @ Chimney Rock/Donnybrook (across from Lowe's).

Check out their menu ahead of time because there are a lot of choices!
