Concerns Have Grown Over State Fair Of Texas Ticket Prices

The State Fair Of Texas is in full swing. With so many Texans looking forward to going to it, some are preparing their wallets to feel lighter. But, this year, it looks like some Texans are choosing to stay home rather than go.

Why Are People Not Going To The State Fair Of Texas?

Many have been voicing their concerns over prices to get into the fair. It was even announced this year that high schoolers would no longer get free tickets to the event itself. This is just one issue however.

When CBS News Texas spoke to Victor Carr, and he said about purchasing tickets:

"We haven't been to the fair in years so we started looking online..."The tickets were $12 online, so we were able to use the promo code — and it ended up being $48, so less than $50."

So the tickets themselves can be a little pricey, but with discounts, there are ways for one to lessen the load of how much it would cost to get in. But then, there's the addition cost of food and other attractions seems to be turning people away.

Are Ticket Prices At The State Fair Of Texas Actually Causing Texans Not To Go?

This idea of people not going to the fair because of the cost has been pushed back on by Karissa Condoianis, spokesperson for the State Fair.

"I know that may be some people's experience, but the truth of the matter is attendance is fine at the State Fair of Texas this year."

But more than that, Condoianis says that patrons don't have to spend that much when they go into the State Fair:

"Just know when you come out to the fair there are more than 100 things you can do out here with your admission...So, whether that's the shows, exhibits, all of the live music that we have throughout the grounds."

Only time will tell to see if attendance was truly down this year at the State Fair Of Texas.
