(Texas) East Texans are ready to spring forward and leave winter behind. Although we're enjoying some spring-like temperatures right now, we know that winter isn’t quite done with us yet. But with all of this warmth we're experiencing, we're looking forward to the return of Daylight Saving Time (DST).

The days have been getting a little longer. We're really noticing them more on the drive home each afternoon. Ever since the Winter Solstice in December, the days have been getting longer.

Public Opinion on Time Changes

As much as we look forward to more daylight in the evening, it can also cause a lot of stress and aggravation. According to a poll conducted by the University of Chicago and published in Psychology Today, 75% of Americans say they would like to see an end to the switching of our clocks back and forth twice a year.

For now, we'll continue doing what we've been doing twice a year since Daylight Saving Time was first observed in 1918. (Bureau of Transportation)

Cancelling Time Change Is Gaining Momentum

Texas and 19 other states have tried to put an end to standard time and stay on Daylight Saving Time. While a law was signed by Governor Greg Abbott in June 2025 (Austin American-Statesman) to put a permanent end to Standard Time, it cannot be observed in Texas until the United States Congress takes action. Until then, we will rely on Daylight Saving Time changes.

Here's When Daylight Saving Time Returns To Texas

So, until that happens, we'll be on Standard Time until 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8th. At 2 a.m., we'll 'spring forward' an hour and be on Daylight Saving Time, until we have to change it back on Sunday, November 1.
