The 5th Annual Maker Faire is set for April 29.This family friendly event is expected to draw about 1200 people into Downtown Tyler.

Chris Rasure, Executive Director of Discovery Science Place, told us:

"We'll have over 40 "makers" in the greatest show and tell on earth- showing what the do and how they do it: artists, hackers, techies, drone fliers, scientists, hobbyists, builders, inventors, etc... We'll have a blacksmith there that you can assist, hands-on science activities, Home Depot will be there teaching kids how to build, you can learn to solder, play with robots, check out 3d printers, even take part in belt-sander races!"

There's even something for the grown up makers this year. Adults are invited to visit the new Innovation Pipeline facility for their Grand Opening which will feature food trucks, drinks, music, maker demonstrations and more.

Some important things to note if you plan to attend:

Parking - The DSP parking lots will be filled with fabulous makers, so you'll need to park your car in nearby lots that have offered free parking. Off of line street, park at the Chamber of Commerce, or near the square at the First Place, Regions Bank, building.

Costs - Yes, you should bring some cash. Admission for DSP members will be $4 for adults and $3 for kids. Non-members will be charged $8 for adults and $6 for kids.

Makers - They will be everywhere. With over 40 makers attending they will be in the museum, the annex and some stationed outside, too.

For the Big Kids - The Innovation Pipeline will host its Grand Opening for makers 21 and older. The new space is built to aid adults in new business ventures with tools and equipment for 3D printing, laser cutting, screen printing, embroidery and more.
