Rain, rain and more rain is expected to fall upon East Texas this week! After enjoying a very spring like weekend, parts of the region could see as much at 8 inches of rain by the time the weather system moves out of East Texas. KLTV 7 meteorologist Cedric Haynes maps out the week to look like this,

  • Monday, cloudy skies, spotty showers begin to develop across the area. Most rainfall amounts Monday should be fairly light.
  • Tuesday, rain and storms possible ahead of the front throughout the afternoon and overnight.
  • Wednesday, rain possible with storms possible especially along and just ahead of the front. This is also the day we could see our heaviest rainfall due to the slow-moving front crossing East Texas."

Cedric says rain chances will continue into the early part of Saturday and the the skies should clear up for Sunday. With this very slow moving weather system over the next week, there will be the potential of flash flooding and a flash flood watch has been posted in anticipation of the rainfall for the central and eastern counties of East Texas with the western counties under consideration at this time. Flash flooding may not be our only concern with this round of spring weather, we could see damaging high winds, hail and the possibility of an isolated tornado.

We will keep you updated on changing weather conditions and if it is warranted, we will break from our normal programming and join severe weather coverage from the Storm Tracker 7 weather center at KLTV 7.
