Elise Testone Gives Us Reason to Show Her ‘A Whole Lotta Love’ on ‘American Idol’
When ‘American Idol’ hopeful Elise Testone walked into rehearsal and told mentors Stevie Nicks and Jimmy Iovine that she was planning to sing ‘Whole Lotta Love’ by English rock band Led Zeppelin, they looked slightly worried. However once Testone opened her mouth, the fear and skepticism immediately washed from their faces. Nicks even had the singer harmonize with her on one of her very own songs and said afterwards, “If I needed a singer I’d hire her in a second.”
It was a night where everyone brought their a-game and Testone didn’t leave hers at home. She did the seemingly impossible and slayed Zeppelin with her deep and throaty vocals. Testone hit the high notes, low notes, and every note in between. After five standing ovations the judges weren’t quick to get on their feet but ultimately gave in to the roaring crowd and rocking performance.
Even though she was screaming “I don’t want to get up, you’re making me get up!” Jennifer Lopez was on her feet for Elise. She then shouted “That’s real rock star stuff! You made everyone get up, it was crazy!” Shaking his head Steven Tyler remarked “I wasn’t sure how you were going to pull that off. You made Robert Plant proud tonight.”
Randy Jackson summed up the commentary and the night by saying “I don’t know what’ in the air tonight but everyone wants to do this, everyone wants to win this thing. That’s the hardest song to sing – and you did an amazing job.”
