Local music is spotlighted in Longview on Thursday night in Downtown.

If you enjoy hearing local artists perform, or you are a local artist yourself, you may want to check it out. Longview Unplugged is hosting and it’s family friendly.

Where is this happening?
Books and Barrels, located at 206 N Center St. in Downtown Longview.

When is it happening?
Thursday night from 5:30-8:00 p.m.

What is it?
An open mic for emerging artists. Adults and kids are both welcome to perform from poetry to music.

How cool, right? I may have to check this out, and even if I don’t make open mic night I may just have to pop in for a drink. Books and Barrels has a revolving seasonal selection of beer and wine from local vineyards and breweries.

They invite you to come in and sip on a drink, while exploring their shelves. Like the drinks, they love to feature local authors and creatives. They also have unique gift ideas.

Poetry nights are held on the first and third Wednesday evenings each month, and arts and crafts nights are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.

For the kids, story time is offered at 10:30 am on the first and third Saturday of each month.

It seems like a really cool place to host a gathering as well, and they offer bookings for private parties on Monday evenings. It’s definitely on my ‘to visit’ list the next time I’m in Longview and looking for a cool place to gather with friends and chat.
