Family Fun Highlights Our Weekend Top 10 for August 26-27
With school back in session, the weekend has transformed back into those two precious days off where you recharge and find some fun - especially before the dreaded Monday rears its ugly head again. Texas is HUGE and our neck of the woods always has an overwhelming amount of family activities for you to partake in.
Here's our top 10 events in East Texas for the dates August 26 and 27.
The Tyler Rocks! trend might slow down a little due to school being back, but it doesn't seem like it's slowed down yet. The Facebook group is still in full force with nearly 15,000 followers!
On Saturday, the kids to The Children's Park of Tyler is hosting a FREE rock painting party. Supplies and snacks will be provided so get out there, paint some rocks and hide 'em!
Maybe painting rocks isn't your thing. Maybe you like to drink beer and watch to battle-tested fighters go at it in a ring in Vegas. The Garage Bar is hosting Vegas Night, which means they're not just showing the night but also bringing in Blackjack and Hold 'Em tables and more! 21-and-up only.
You can get tickets here.
Another one for the kids (or the kid in you!). Van Movie House. The event indicates it's a free show so you really can't beat that!
Now this is in Dallas, so you either need to be out there or be willing to make the drive. But if you haven't done movies in the park (with kids or without), you're missing out. It's a lot of fun to sit on the lawn with a bunch of friends, surrounded by people who just want to enjoy the warm summer nights.
Beer and wine will be sold at a location right by the movie venue, so you'r good. =)
Who wouldn't want to participate in something called 'water balloon wars' on a hot day in Texas? Deep Ellum Water Balloon Wars is an adults-only (18+) event featuring water balloon battles, water slides, dunk tanks, music, food and libations in the heart of Deep Ellum.
They say they'll have 65,000 water balloons. I'm just sayin'!
It's back to school, which means Longview's annual bike rally is happening this Saturday at 315 W Cotton St, Longview, Texas, 75601.
It's $3 donation to ride inside the gates. Parents of kids with special needs: We will open the gates at 9:30am to allow your children to ride the streets in a crowd-less environment.
The Palestine Civic Center is hosting live pro wrestling for it's Back to School Bash! Kids 10-and-under are free with paying adult. $10 in advance, $12 at the door!
Try something completely different this weekend. Paddle boarding is a great workout and has a calming effect (because if you're not calm, you'll fall!) and yoga helps find peace of mind.
If you're overwhelmed, this could be the answer. The class begins at 9 am on Saturday at Tyler Paddle on 15898 Eastside Rd.
