Felony Arrests In Nacogdoches County Nov 16 – 22

There are currently 304 inmates in the Nacogdoches County Jail, 15 of whom are pretrial Class A and B Misdemeanor offenders.

This report focuses on the 208 pretrial felons (186 male and 22 female). There are 27 pretrial state jail felons and 54 in the "all other" category.

There were 4,310 bookings in and out of jail in 2024. The 11 pretrial and state jail felons pictured below were arrested in and near Nacogdoches, Texas from November 16th to November 22nd, 2024.

Motion To Revoke Probation In Texas

Felony arrests were down this week leading up to Thanksgiving. Perhaps crime is taking a day off to make sure they get to spend the holiday feasting with their family.

Many of the arrestees this week were MTRPs, which stands for Motion To Revoke Probation. This is legal action taken by the parole officer or parole board that occurs when someone is violating the terms of their parole.

In Texas ex-convicts are held to a high standard and they have to follow lots of rules to remain free. Getting an MTRP in Texas could mean that the felon performed one of the following actions according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

• Committing a new crime on parole
• Failing to meet with your parole officer
• Failing a mandatory drug test
• Failing to pay fines or court costs
• Breaking curfew
• Failing to complete mandatory community service
• Failing to maintain adequate employment

The process of revoking parole in Texas is fairly straightforward. The offender is detained and a parole officer interviews them. They are advised of their rights, and a preliminary hearing is held to see if there is probable cause to continue.
