Fellow drivers, take note. If you drive State Highway 64 from Tyler to Canton, especially to get your Trades Day fix, you might want to take a different route.

The final expansion phase has started on Highway 64 between Farm-to-Market Road 16 and Farm-to-Market Road 773. If you are like me and have a hard time visualizing where this is, it is just southeast of Canton (I circled on the map, you're welcome.)

According to a post on the Van Zandt Co. Constables Facebook page, this expansion will take two years to complete and comes with the usual: lane closures, construction traffic and delays. The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph within the construction zone. The post also reads:

We use SH64 daily as well and understand the frustrations associated with delays. We hope that we can gain your understanding and patience as they widen SH64 to help ease future congestion.

TxDOT as well as authorities are asking drivers to be understanding during the construction. Please be careful and help keep those working on the project safe.
