What are the most popular dog names in the Pineywoods?

On May 13, I published a Facebook post asking that question. In response, we received over 300 names (and photos).

Most Popular Dog Names in the United States

  2. Charlie
  3. Bella
  4. Max
  5. Daisy
  6. Lucy

The Top Dog Names in Texas

The online report went on to break down the top 3 names given to dogs in each of the 50 states. In Texas, those were Bella, Luna, and Max (in that order).

Many other states followed that trend, but there were a few that had some unique names in the top three.

For instance, Hoku is big in Hawaii, and Alaska is fond of the old throwback, Spot. Winter is such a big part of South Dakota that they pick that name for their dogs above all others, and Montanans chose Otter as the number 1 name for their canines.
