And the stunt driver of the year award goes to a 26-year-old Allen Park man who launched his car over a rising drawbridge Wednesday night (insert Dukes of Hazard horn).

Holy hell, this is the most awesome thing I've heard all week. As the man approached the Fort Street bascule bridge near Miller Road, he stepped on the gas and successfully jumped the rising bridge. However, his landing was not so successful. When he landed, he blew out all four tires, smashed the windshield, and crashed into a gate on the other side of the bridge. Surprisingly, he didn't get hurt.

Drawbridge operator Andre Locke told WDIV:

I looked, I said, 'No he ain’t. Over he went, blew out all four of his tires, and then he crashed into the other gate.

At the time of the incident, police were unaware of why he jumped the bridge but it might have had something to do with the whippits in his system. In case you're unaware, whippits is a term used to describe the nitrous oxide charger that is used in whipped cream dispensers. It's a quick and easy way for kids (or a 26-year-old man in this case) to get high.

I'm so hoping there's surveillance video out there and that it one day surfaces. I have to see this magnificent moment with my own eyes.
