Heejun Han Makes a Comeback on ‘American Idol’ With ‘A Song for You’
After being in the bottom ‘American Idol’ contestant, Heejan Han entered this week with his tail between his legs. While his charismatic personality and humor shone on stage, his vocals weren’t quite cutting it. Perhaps it was the harsh reality of barely surviving another week that got Han to take the competition seriously and hit us with a comeback.
Choosing the songs of artists they admired, Han tackled ‘A Song for You’ by Michael Buble. Equipped with a microphone, a second chance, and a new pair of swanky spectacles, Han gave us a beautiful and effortless performance that reminded us and the judges alike why he is a part of this competition, and a legitimate contender.
Steven Tyler told a nervous looking Han “You did it, you turned it around. You’re such a natural – you don’t know how good you can sing.” He went on to say “You make it come alive in ways no one else can. You just keep on believing in yourself.” Jennifer Lopez complimented Han on his beautiful tone and vibrato and asserted Han: “When you connect and you sing to us, you move people – you need to know that.” Lopez loves when a singer can “connect” — a lamp could sing an off-key rendition of a Michael Buble song but as long as it did so with heart, we’re fairly certain Lopez would give it a standing ovation.
Realist Randy Jackson noted that the performance wasn’t perfect but also gave the singer praise: “Finally the Heejan we selected came back to us tonight, welcome back.”
While we’re happy for Han on making a comeback we can’t help but to echo Ryan Seacrest’s sentiments from the end of his segment – which Heejun will we get for the rest of the competition?
