What’s Next For Texas Hooters After Multiple Restaurant Closures?

Hooters Abruptly Ends Operations At Restaurants In 14 States

The company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection two months ago. At that time, company representatives stated they were 'here to stay'. That all changed on June 4, 2025, though.

Now, a spokesperson for the company says, 'After careful consideration of what is needed to best position our company for the future, Hooters made the difficult decision to close certain company-owned locations."

3 Texas Hooters Locations Were Affected

Among the 30 restaurants, these locations in Texas were suddenly closed:

• Grapevine, Texas (1711 Crossroads Dr, Grapevine, TX 76051)
• Houston, Texas (120 Farm to Market 1960 Rd W, Houston, TX 77090)
• San Marcos, Texas (310 S I-35 South Frontage Rd Suite 201, San Marcos, TX 78666)

Multiple outlets are reporting that the affected restaurants have already been removed from the company website, all social media channels related to the individual restaurants have been shut down, and a recorded message has been placed on the store's phone number, saying it has permanently closed.

What Happens With The Remaining Texas Locations

Many of the remaining locations are owned by franchisees. Meaning they are not owned by the company but by other entities or locals who operate the restaurant with the Hooters name and branding.

According to the Hooters location locator, there are still 33 locations open in Texas, including Texarkana, several in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio areas. It is not known which of these locations are corporate or franchise-operated.

What's Next For Hooters?

According to Yahoo! finance, Hooters continues to work through this difficult time with hopes of emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a new ownership plan. There are plans to sell and transfer the remaining corporate locations to franchisees and become a fully franchised business.

This will be a lengthy process that could take a couple of months, but company executives feel the company and Hooters brand will emerge as successful as possible.
