The 27 Club is a name given to a group of talented young artists that seem to have died before their time. A group of incredibly talented and troubled musicians whose deaths have become riddled with doubt and mystery including icons like Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and most recently Amy Winehouse. The myths, legends and facts surrounding these people are explored in Howard Sounes new book, 27: A History of the 27 Club through the Lives of Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse.

I stumbled onto the book through an article on Rolling Stone's website.

It's been added to a long list of books that I intend to read one day. According to the review posted on Goodreads.com, "The fantasies, half-truths, and mythologies that have become associated with Jones, Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Cobain, and Winehouse are debunked. Instead a clear and compelling narrative emerges, one based on hard facts, that unites these lost souls in both life and death."
