Police Investigate Yard Full Of Human Teeth In Texas
(Hondo, Texas) - Earth is approximately 4.543 billion years old. A lot has been covered up throughout those 4.5 billion years.
Go digging around your backyard; there's no telling what you'll unearth. Your backyard could just be a big pile of dirt, or it could contain some rare Earth minerals. If you dig deep enough, you could hit water or even an oil deposit. Maybe it holds the secret of hundreds of human teeth.
That's exactly what one Central Texas family found when they were digging in their yard recently.
Texas Yard Filled with Human Teeth
Hondo Texas Police were called out to a residence on Friday, March 4, 2025, after a family discovered more than a hundred teeth had been scattered and buried in their yard.

At first, authorities were wondering if the teeth were real and if something more sinister was going on or had gone on at this house.
The police in the small town, 45 minutes west of San Antonio, joined forces with a local dentist, and they determined that these were indeed real human teeth.
Police stated in an online post that they 'honestly hoped they weren't real' (Facebook), but it turns out they were real.
Was this the tooth fairy's secret hiding place?
After further investigation, it seems as if the previous homeowners were dentists who practiced in the area between 1955 and 1975. The teeth had been buried at the home, according to the previous owners' family members, who told police that it was a tradition in dentistry to bury teeth for good luck when selling a home.
Now, I'm not in the dentistry field, but this sounds quite strange.
The Hondo Police Department goes on to say that no crime was committed, the scene was secure, and it was just old school dental superstition at play.
So when you go to dig a hole in your backyard to plant a tree or build a swimming pool and you uncover some teeth or bones, it could be part of a strange superstition like this. To be sure, though, you'll probably want to give your local law enforcement office a call just to be safe.
