Is Gavin DeGraw Receiving Preferential Treatment?

Police have pretty much papered the East Village in New York City with flyers looking for tips on the guys that beat up Gavin Degraw last week. Apparently this is not sitting well with some people.  At first read I was going with "how silly" but now that I think about it, IS it preferential treatment?  Leave me your thoughts after the jump.  Besides, people do get mugged every day and do not get flyers posted to find their culprits. Gavin Degraw rejoins the Maroon 5/Train tour a week from tonight.
