Is It Illegal To Have Christmas Lights On My Texas Vehicle? Find Out Here
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Texas. While some of us are wondering if the power grid will hold up to our heating needs, others are looking for ways to light up the highways to spread Christmas cheer for all to see.
Full disclosure, I have put Christmas lights on a vehicle before. It was for a lighted Christmas parade, but I don't remember driving back home with them on afterward. I also didn't cover every square inch like I have seen recently.
Would you get pulled over in Texas for having Christmas lights on while driving in Texas? I guess that depends on your color scheme.
Keep Those Red And Blue Blinking Lights Off Your Texas Vehicle
With so many laws about what you can and can't have on your car or truck in Texas, you would think there would be a specific one about Christmas lights. Is it legal? Well, it's not illegal.

The lights are a police magnet with the potential of drawing attention to yourself. Just because there isn't a law doesn't mean you won't get pulled over and congratulated on your amazing light display.
You can save yourself a lot of heartache by only using plastic-tipped LED Christmas lights on your vehicle and gaffer's tape or, if you don't have that, painter's tape. Not using this could damage your vehicle's paint and leave your car a sticky mess.
