Shreveport Man Arrested After Strangling Woman
SHREVEPORT, LA- Man Arrested in Violent Domestic Incident
On May 4, 2024, just after midnight, Shreveport Police officers responded to a violent domestic incident involving 37-year-old John Russ. Upon arrival, officers learned that Russ had grabbed the female victim by the back of the head, pushed her into the corner of a dresser, and strangled her until she lost consciousness, all in the presence of two children under the age of 13.
Detectives from the Domestic Violence Unit also discovered that an active protective order was in place, prohibiting Russ from contacting the victim. The victim sustained injuries that were treated and documented by a local hospital.
Detectives obtained warrants for Russ, charging him with Domestic Abuse Battery with Strangulation, Domestic Abuse Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, Violation of a Protective Order, and two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment. On October 4, 2024, detectives successfully arrested Russ.
